Samsung 65-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LED HDTV – UN65C8000 TV Review

For those in the market for a large 65 Inch television but are looking for an alternative to the power hungry plasma TVs that dominate this category, the Samsung UN65C8000 LED TV is a good choice.

You’ll find that this TV has better than average black levels and its packed to the brim full of features you actually want and your Blu-ray movies really shine on a screen like this.

We weren’t that fond of the remote for such a nice TV – it just didn’t seem all that user friendly so we’d recommend getting a third party remote.

While not the most budget friendly television, no 65 inch television is cheap.  At just shy of $5,000, you’re paying a premium for the LED technology in the television but the cost savings in power over the lifetime of the television will more than make up for what you’ll pay for a plasma television this size.

If you’re looking for the best priced 3D TV currently on the market, then look no further than the new 42 Inch Vizio XVT3D424SV.

While not quite as fully featured as higher priced 3D TVs, Vizio still added in a lot of goodies beyond just 3D.   It has built in dual band Wireless N Wifi and can stream from sources like Netflix without you needing to hook up any other peripherals like a Wii or Roku.

While we prefer full LED Arrays, the edge lit LED TV does the job well enough to have good blacks and excellent color representation.  The 480HZ SPS refresh rate is more than enough to avoid motion blur, and the 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio looks great.

While it doesn’t deliver the same exhilarating experience as it’s $2100 brethren, the $1300 42 inch model is a great way to get a 3D TV without breaking the bank on technology that may or may not pan out.

The cheapest 3D TV on the market and an excellent value if you’re looking for a 3DTV.

3D Movies

While DirecTV does offer a few 3D channels, the choices are limited (at the time of this writing, there are only four 3D channels on DirecTV).  We recommend getting some movies to really see what 3D has to offer (though there are only a handful of Blu-ray 3D movies at the moment as well) – here are a few good ones to see what your TV is capable of (expect a lot more Blu-ray 3D movies to become available in 2011):

If the name Vizio makes you think of cheap, low quality LCD TVs, then it’s time to start reconsidering what you think of Vizio.

These days, Vizio is making a name for themselves as a maker of high quality, low priced, televisions that are big on the value meter.

The 55 Inch Vizio XVT553SV LED TV will have you thinking you purchased a TV that cost $1,000 more and would cost you that much more if it had the name Sony on it.

It features an incredible 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and the full LED array with local dimming really produces a pretty picture, extremely deep black levels and excellent color accuracy – among the best we’ve seen on any LED TV, even those that costs twice as much.

No TV in this class is complete these days without Internet capability.  Vizio delivers that with built in dual band Wireless N that can handle all the streaming HD content you can throw at it.

As with all HDTVs, we recommend a dedicated surround sound system, but the speakers on this unit are adequate though not spectacular.

Bottom line, if you can live without 3D compatibility, then the Vizio XVT553SV is the best value LED TV with local dimming on the market.

VIZIO 47-inch 1080p LCD HDTV with 120Hz Smooth Motion SV470M Review

While a bit spartan on extra features, the 47 Inch Vizio SV470M LCD TV does a fine job of delivering a high quality picture for a good price.
It’s easy to see why this was recently the #1 top selling TV on Amazon.com.

If you’re willing to forgo features like internet connectivity (your Wii, PS3, Google TV, Roku, Xbox 360, etc, can do it for you – if you have any of those devices, Internet connectivity on the TV itself is redundant), what you end up with is an attractively priced 47 Inch TV from Vizio.

The 120HZ refresh rate is plenty for a good looking picture and with Vizio’s Smooth Motion technology, you shouldn’t end up with any blurry pictures.  However, we recommend you turn off the feature when watching movies or you’ll find your movies look a bit off.

You’ll find plenty of inputs on this unit it’s and Energy Star Television which means it won’t use a lot of power so you can rest a little better knowing you’re being kind to mother nature when watching television.

Overall, a solid, attractively priced HDTV.

Samsung 46-Inch 120Hz 1080p LED HDTV (Black) UN46C6500

With it’s ultra slim 1.1” deep display, the Samsung UN46C6500 46” LED TV will look sexy even when it’s turned off.  However, after spending some time with this TV, we’re sure you’ll want to have it on whenever possible.

With a fantastic picture, excellent black levels, and features you actually want, for the price, this HDTV should be high on your list of TVs if you’re in the market for a sub 50” TV.

The Internet enabled TV can stream movies from Amazon Video On Demand, Netflix, and Blockbuster, though if you want Wi-Fi you’ll need to purchase an additional adapter.

One nice little bonus: This TV works well when displaying standard definition programming in addition to being outstanding for high definition.  While in an ideal world, everything would be HD, we all know it isn’t well so it’s nice to know that standard definition programming will still look good.

A top performer and one of our favorites.  Highly Recommended!
